Commentary
My first wind of the new Guyver Anime did not really sit well with my stomach. Bad experiences with the first two led me to think that this would be yet another failure attempt to revive the excellent works of the author. ( Not to mention the average 1 year per manga production rate )

That impression lasted me for about 5 months until I saw the release of the first episode.

It was stunning as compared to its 20 year old counter part. The graphics, sound effects and also voices for the characters matched perfectly.

However that was not the only thing that attracted me to the new series. The actual thing that glued me to the screen was their prelude part where we see Mizuki relating to use the events that will follow and then in the ending we see the Gigantic Guyver appearing from the sky as the savior of the human race.

The Gigantic enters the scene more than 10 manga books away and that could mean a good 30 to 40 episodes before that happening and also another 30 to 40 to reach the events that we have seen till today's Volume 22! And with WOWOW as the supporting base of this project, we can be sure that we will finally see a finished product!

There are of course some changes to the storyline, but not to an extent that makes it far off from the Manga.

The characters on the other hand were redesigned and like the storyline, they look different and familiar at the same time.

Unlike other animes that are just filled with Women with big bustline, Guyver is a somewhat serious anime that may not be recommended for children because of the extensive display of gross and blood spill scenes. ( Just like the original anime and the manga )
And also, other animes or manga survives for extended volumes ( over 26 episodes ) by constantly adding new characters over and over again that made it really boring to watch, but Guyver is able to hold the attraction and attention on me even until the 22nd Manga volume! Addition of characters were little, but what we see are natural evolution of the characters and their roles in the series.
For example, Dragon Ball ( Which are targeting the same group of viewers ). SS1, SS2, SS3, SS4!! Oh my god.... Super-Saiyan Golden Monkey... I think you get my point. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Dragon Ball series and I am also a collector of their trading cards, but the story became craggy after the Cell Saga that made me lost my interest... ... Especially on the GT series.

Overall, my worries that it would be a complete failure were short-lived. This is a fantastic production!

If you are not going to buy it when its out on VCD or DVD, you don't know what you are missing out!!
