He was one of the experimental Zoanoids created for the eole purpose to create even more powerful Zoanoids. they do not have any place or position in Chronos and are looked down by even the most low ranks of Zoanoids.

Aptom is very unhappy about this but because he as 2 other close companions that are also experimental zoanoids, he found comfort in this mutual friendship and plight that they suffer.

Unfortunately 2 of his close friends were killed in a battle with Guyver and thus he was all out to take revenge.

After nodifications by BArucs, he found that he is more and more unaffected by the mind control skills of the Zoalords and thus he broke free of their control. Even more astonishing is that in his battle with Guyver I the second time, he found that he was able to regenerate and also absorb other Zoanoids into himself!

He also absorbed 3 other Hyper Zoanoids wholely in the earlier series and took part of Zector as well. He was motivated only to kill Guyver I in the earlier series, but that changed after his battle with Zector.

In his battle with the improved Zecor, he learned that his value of life was not to just kill Guyver I ut something greater. He thought of his friends, and the Elite 5 and that he must live on not only for himself but also for his friends and those that have killed. Especially those of the Elite 5 because they shared the same deep sense of friendship as that between he and friends.

From then we see Aptom helping Guyver I instead of going against him. He tried to wake Sho up and show him that Agito has already betrayed him, but in one battle he was taken away by the Zoalords and manipulated into something that would kill the GUyvers.

Uptil Chapter 140, Sho and Toshiaki iare still trying to save Aptom from the Zoalord's Mind Control....

One of my favourite Zoanoids :) the beetle like design was very cool.

He is one of those, "Is he a Hero or a Villian?" Type of characters that hangs in the middle.
